Balneden could be the perfect holiday home for your family – a tranquil place to relax and unwind, but also a place to venture out and explore from. We have plenty to “see and do” right on our doorstep, with even more possibilities a short drive away. Across the valley the mountain bike trails of Bike Glenlivet are a real gem for novice and experienced cyclists alike year-round, while The Lecht attracts skiers and snow sport enthusiast during the winter months.

Heritage

Here at Balneden we are very lucky to be surrounded by so many interesting places of historical importance – castles, gardens, local traditional crafts and even battle fields.

Walking

Just step out of your cottage and you can enjoy daily strolls from your doorstep – drink in the views and let your surroundings make you smile.

Cycling

Balneden is the ideal place to escape and enjoy a week, or a few days, cycling . We are perfectly situated in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, within close proximity to the excellent mountain bike trails on the Glenlivet Estate and to many more, further afield.

Nature

With its highly varied landscape Glenlivet Estate is a very special place for wildlife. Up on the high moors, if you are sharp eyed and very lucky, you may spot a mountain hare, black grouse, or even a golden eagle passing by.

Dark Skies

The Tomintoul and Glenlivet area is globally recognised as the most northerly Dark Skies. Discovery Park in the world, making our night skies rather special. Step outside your cottage on a dark clear night and youll see why – it really is an amazing experience, especially if the northern lights make an appearance.

Whisky & Gin

For those of you who enjoy a wee dram or two then look no further than Balneden. We are in Moray-Speyside, the ancestral home of malt whisky in the Highlands.

Snow & Water Sports

When snow falls in the Cairngorms Balneden becomes a winter playground for all – skiers, snowboarders, sledgers, walkers, wildlife watchers, not to mention the photographer in you!
